Castagnole delle Lanze owes its wine development to the Barbera, an ancient grape variety which, with an extension of approximately 20.000 hectares, is the 6th Italian wine in territorial extension. Thanks to an excellent work and quality in wine making, this variety is increasingly being appreciated from wine lovers and expert.
Barbera as a local excellence
- The Festa della Barbera is the most famous and representative food and wine event in our village, which every year, in May, gathers thousands of visitors over a weekend.
- In 2010 the City Hall launched the project “Adotta un filare nelle Lanze”. A unique venture, which allows people to adopt every year a little row of Barbera, now counting more than one thousand adopters.
Vine varieties and winemakers
Next to Barbera, a huge role in the local wine scenario is played by Moscato, followed by the more recent plantation of Chardonnay and Nebbiolo.
For those who love the “good drinking” a high number of local producers ensures a wide offer of high-quality wines, thus meeting the expectations of both expert tasters and those who recently approached the fascinating world of wine.
